Mia Lora - Reflection 2

Group #4 (My Group) Our presentation focused on immigration policies and healthcare access. We explained how knowing current laws and advocating for fair reforms can make a big difference in people’s lives, especially for immigrants who struggle to get the healthcare they need. We also talked about how community programs help people who don’t have insurance and the ongoing debate about whether everyone should receive care, regardless of legal status. Working on this helped me see how much ethics and policy go hand in hand and why healthcare is seen as a basic human right. Being in this group was honestly a good experience. Everyone brought strong information, and we communicated well when putting the PowerPoint and brochure together. We even coordinated our outfits, which made us look organized and professional. Some members included current immigration issues, and that made our presentation feel relevant. As for me, I still get nervous when I present, and I depend on my notes more tha...

Reflection TWO

Theme ProJect Review  Stephanie Cortijo  SPC2608 9:50am Professor Sherri 11-11-25 GROUP 1 Group 1   Their group gave a very thoughtful and informative presentation about the different immigration issues that people face in the world today. They began by explaining how immigration policies can shape almost every part of a person’s life, including their ability to stay with their families, travel safely, and access education or job opportunities. Several members focused on the challenges immigrants encounter when coming to the United States. These challenges included language barriers, the pressure of gathering proper documentation, and the emotional stress of adjusting to an entirely new environment. One member shared a powerful explanation about how many families immigrate in hopes of providing a better future for their children, yet those same children often struggle in school because they are still learning English. She connected this topic to her own personal sto...

Yandel Pimienta - Reflection #2

Yandel Pimienta SPC 2608 9:50 am Professor Sinkoff  Reflection #2 Group 4 Group #4 (my group) was the first to present, which made the experience both exciting and nerve‑wracking. For my part, I focused on the history of immigration, breaking it down into five eras to show how policies and attitudes shifted over time. I felt that this structure gave our presentation a clear backbone and helped the audience see how immigration laws evolved from the colonial period to today. As a group, we coordinated our dress code by all wearing black tops, which gave us a unified and professional look. I later noticed that Group #2 did the same, which made me proud that our choice may have inspired them to present with that same sense of unity. While I was presenting, I noticed myself pausing often, forgetting my words, and relying on my index cards more than I wanted. Honestly, part of me just wanted to get through it quickly, but I reminded myself to slow down and take my time so the audience co...

Emelin Solorzano - Reflection #2

Theme Project Review Emelin Solorzano SPC2608 9:50am Professor Sherri                                                             Group #1        Their group talked about different immigration issues that people face today. They explained how immigration policies affect families, travel, and access to opportunities. Some members focused on the challenges immigrants experience when coming to the United States, such as language barriers, documentation requirements, and adjusting to a completely new environment. One member talked about how families immigrate for a better life but how children often struggle with speaking English. She even shared her own story and her friend’s experience, which made her part of the presentation relatable and emotional. Another member explained what a TSA worker told her ab...

Mia Lora - Reflection 1

Chapter Presentation Review Mia Lora SPC2608 – 9:50 AM Professor Sinkoff September 30, 2025  Group 1 – Chapters 1–3, 5  Group 1 – Chapters 1–3, 5 Group 1 covered chapters 1, 2, 3, and 5, which included the history of public speaking, building confidence, listening, and adapting to the audience. Their presentation was informative and easy to follow. I especially liked that they included good videos that helped explain some of the key ideas and kept the audience interested. One thing I learned was that public speaking is more than just talking—it’s about really connecting with your listeners. They talked about how public speaking started with famous philosophers like Aristotle and Cicero and explained important ideas like logos, pathos, ethos, and mythos. They also covered the five arts of public speaking, which helped me see that speaking well is a skill you can develop. They gave good advice on how to manage nerves, like deep breathing and visualization, which I found helpful....

Nathalie Lora Reflection #1

Nathalie Lora SPC2608 9:50am Professor Sinkoff Chapter Presentation Reflection #1 Review Group 1 (Chapters 1-3 and 5) Looking back at Group 1’s presentation from a few weeks ago, I still remember how much information they packed into it. They covered several chapters which included, “The evolving art of public speaking”, “Building your confidence”, “Listening,” and “Adapting to your audience”. Their presentation was extremely informative, and it was also clear that they highlighted the main key points. They explained also how public speaking is a life skill and form of art that will be cherished in life and your own success. One thing I really appreciated was how they emphasized listening as well as confidence. Furthermore, this topic goes in with the awful thing that many of us commonly struggle with, which is speech anxiety. The videos were truly informative as well as entertaining, making the material more easier to grab and take with you. The tips and techniques given to ...

Yandel Pimienta pressntation reflections

Yandel Pimienta SPC 2608 9:50 am Professor Sinkoff Reflection Group #1 (Chapters 1, 2, 3, & 5) I think Group #1 did a relatively good job at explaining their presentation. They covered chapters 1, 2, 3, and 5, which focused on the foundations of public speaking, building confidence, listening, and adapting to your audience. Their explanation of the rhetorical appeals—logos, pathos, ethos, and mythos—was clear and helped me understand how speakers connect with audiences through logic, emotion, credibility, and shared values. I also appreciated their breakdown of the five classical canons: invention, arrangement, style, memory, and delivery. It made me realize that public speaking is both an art and a skill that can be improved with practice. There were a couple of things that stood out to me, though. One was that the TED Talk included in the presentation ran a bit long. Another was that some group members spoke faster than others, likely due to nerves. While the video was informati...
